Locks and homes in Leona Valley

Leona Valley runs to ranch and horse properties on large lots, with gated entries, barns and outbuildings. A lot of the work here is gate, barn and property locks and rekeys, plus car keys cut on site, and we open doors without drilling wherever the lock allows.

Leona Valley is a narrow rural valley with one road through it and cherry orchards along its length, and the orchards create a lock problem that almost nowhere else on our list has. For a few weeks a year these properties open to the public for picking, which means the gates, the stands and the parking areas have to be accessible to strangers, and then locked back down to a working ranch for the other eleven months. Seasonal access, done with keys rather than a plan, is how a property ends up with keys in circulation that nobody can account for by autumn.

How fast

Getting to Leona Valley

Sixteen miles as the crow flies but the road through the valley makes it longer, so 35 to 55 minutes is the honest number. It is worth grouping work into one visit, and worth giving us directions a neighbor would give rather than an address a map would.

Questions

Leona Valley locksmith questions

Can you rekey gate and barn locks on a ranch?

Yes. Ranch and horse properties here have gates, barns and outbuildings, and we rekey and replace those locks along with the house.

We open to the public for the season. How should the keys work?

Not as a fistful of copies handed out in June. Put the seasonal areas on their own key so the ranch itself is never on the same one, and rekey that seasonal set at the end of the season rather than counting keys back in. It costs less than one lost key does, and it means the winter property is genuinely locked.

There is one road in and out. Does that change anything?

For an evacuation it does, and it is worth thinking about before a fire year. Gates that only open on mains power, and locks that need a key from the inside, are both worth removing on a property with a single exit. We can fit a manual release you can reach from the driveway and check that every gate opens without electricity.
