Why a truck cab is not a car door
A cab door is thicker, the glass sits higher, and the linkage from the handle to the latch runs a longer and far less predictable path, so a tool shaped for a sedan simply does not reach. Air-ride cabs also move on their suspension while you work, which makes a rushed job the quickest way to bend a rod. We use longer reach tools and wedges sized for a commercial door, work from the top corner where the seal is built to flex, and leave the weatherstrip intact. A torn seal on a sleeper is a leak the driver will hear at seventy miles an hour for the rest of that truck's life.
Where we come to you
The truck stops and yards along the 5 through Castaic and up toward the Grapevine, the 14 through Canyon Country and Palmdale, and the industrial blocks of Sylmar, Pacoima, Van Nuys and Santa Clarita. We also come out to docks and job sites across the valleys. Give us the mile marker or the yard address and we will give you a real arrival window. On the Westside we work by appointment and do not take lockout calls.

Truck lockout questions
Can you come out to the freeway or a truck stop?
Yes, that is most of this work. Get the truck as far onto the shoulder or into the lot as you safely can, put the triangles out, and wait somewhere other than beside the door. When you call, give us the direction of travel and the nearest exit or mile marker, not just the freeway number. That one detail saves more time than anything else.
The key is lost, not locked inside. Can you still help?
Opening the door and making a key are two different jobs, and we can open it either way. Cutting a new one depends on the truck: plenty of commercial cabs still use a plain mechanical key we can decode and cut on site, while newer ones carry a chip that needs programming. Tell us the make, model and year on the phone and we will say which of those you have before we roll.
How long does it take?
The opening itself is usually ten to twenty minutes once we are on scene. Getting there is the variable, and on the 5 or the 14 at the wrong hour that is the honest part of the answer. We give a real window when you call rather than a number that sounds good and then slips.
Driver shut out of the cab?
Call with the location and the truck. We will tell you how long, and what it costs, before we roll.
