Santa Monica is dense and largely rented: apartment buildings from every decade, Ocean Park and Sunset Park bungalows, condos downtown, and a busy commercial core along Main Street, Montana and the Promenade.
Two problems barely exist inland. The first is salt: hardware within a mile of the water corrodes from the inside, and a cylinder that would last twenty years in the valley starts sticking here in five, so brass and marine-grade internals are the right part, not an upsell. The second is turnover: a large share of the work is a unit changing hands, its mailbox, and the building's common doors.

That is too far for us to promise the quick arrival a lockout needs, so we do not take lockout calls here, and we would rather say so than leave you waiting on a doorstep. Why does my lock keep sticking when it is only a few years old?
Almost certainly salt. Near the water the air works into the mechanism and corrodes it from the inside. We fit brass or marine-grade hardware on exposed doors, which costs a little more once instead of a service call every couple of years.
A tenant is moving out. What needs changing?
The unit door, the mailbox and any common-area key they held, such as laundry, garage or the pedestrian gate. The mailbox is the one that gets forgotten, and it carries somebody's post and paperwork.
Can you come out for a lockout in Santa Monica?
