Playa Vista is almost entirely new, built from the 2000s on the old Hughes Aircraft site: condo and townhome blocks under HOAs, buildings entered by fob, and a tech office campus along the Bluff.
New buildings mean electronic hardware from day one. Smart and keypad locks on unit doors, often fitted by a builder or previous owner with nobody holding the admin code, are the most common call; the building's own fob system belongs to the HOA and its vendor, but the lock on your unit door is yours to change. Offices here want the same thing in bigger form: keypads and a master system that make a staff change a code change, not a lock change.
How booking works in Playa Vista
Playa Vista is about 30 miles from our base in Canyon Country. That is too far for us to promise the quick arrival a lockout needs, so we do not take lockout calls here, and we would rather say so than leave you waiting on a doorstep. Everything that can be planned we do gladly: text photos of the doors and what you want done, we send a price, and we book a time, usually within the week.

Most standalone units reset to factory settings from inside the door, and we set them up again in your name. If a model will not reset, we replace it on the same door preparation so there is no new damage.
Can you change my building's fob system?
No; that belongs to your HOA and the company that runs it. Your own unit door lock is yours, and that we can change, rekey or replace.
Can you come out for a lockout in Playa Vista?
Not yet. From Canyon Country we cannot reach Playa Vista fast enough to make a lockout worth your wait, so for now we only do booked work here: rekeys, lock changes, new locks, smart locks and master key systems. For a lockout right now, a locksmith closer to you will reach you sooner.
