Before you call anyone
- Retrace the obvious. Ride lockers, the bag check, the bench where you changed shoes. Keys left in a locker are found more often than keys lost on a ride.
- Ask Guest Services. The park keeps lost and found at Guest Services near the main entrance. Keys found on rides and in the park are taken there, sometimes hours later, so ask again before the park closes.
- Look through the car windows. In the rush to the gate, keys end up on the seat or in the ignition more often than people think. If they are inside, it is a lockout, not a lost key, and it is much quicker to sort out.
- Call home. A spare key and a friend who can drive it over can be the cheapest fix if you live nearby.
If the keys are locked in the car
That is an ordinary car lockout: we open the car without damage, check that it is yours, and you drive home. Our guide to keys locked in the car explains what to expect, and if the car is a Tesla, see locked out of a Tesla.
If the keys are gone
Then the car needs a new key, cut and, on most cars from the last twenty years, programmed to the car, before it will start. We do that on site in the parking lot for most makes and models. Text the make, model and year, the lot and the row where the car is, and a photo of your ID beside the registration if you have it, and we will send a price and an arrival time. Our guides to losing your only car key and losing a push-to-start fob explain the steps.
Tips for next time
- Use a zip pocket or a lanyard for keys on the rides, or leave them in a locker with the receipt photographed.
- Keep the spare key at home somewhere a family member can find it.
- Take a photo of the parking lot row sign. The lots are large, and finding the car is part of the evening.
Questions people ask
Where is lost and found at Six Flags Magic Mountain?
At Guest Services near the main entrance. Items found in the park are taken there, so ask again before you leave if the keys do not turn up at first.
Can you open my car in the Magic Mountain parking lot?
Yes. Magic Mountain is in Valencia, a few minutes from our base, and we open cars in its lots regularly, day or night.
Can you make a new car key in the parking lot?
For most makes and models, yes: cut and programmed on site. Text the make, model and year and we will confirm before we drive over.
What do I need to show?
Your ID and something tying you to the car, such as the registration or insurance card, which are often in the glove box and checked once the car is open.
